Job Summary

Performs a broad range of complex technical, administrative and supervisory duties within a customer plant pertaining to daily ink room management and operation.  Use best practices, standard work, and policies as outlined by Siegwerk CUSA Inc. to drive Safety culture, manage staffing and operations, support press side color management activities, coordinate trials, and manage inventory.  Through these activities, the InHouse Manager will ensure customer needs are met to the best of the team’s ability.  Complies with all company policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintain a neat, clean and Safe work area; (2) maintain regular and consistent attendance; and (3) must have the ability to maintain positive working relationships.  Coordinates jobs being set up for presses; oversees and monitors the work completed by Siegwerk and customer employees

Job Responsibilities

Works in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Monitors, evaluates, and appraises department productivity; guides ink room to meeting daily goals and improving performance; addresses complaints and resolves problems with manager input.

Assists customer with ink room procedures and improvements.

Performs technical services and press-side trouble shooting.

Facilitates, coordinates, and monitors work completion through appropriate customer team members (Production Manager, Press Room Manager, etc.).

Promotes positive customer relations.

Work closely with Application Technology, Account Managers, and SCM manufacturing to coordinate and ensure that customer needs are met along with ensuring proper procedures, service, and quality standards are established.

Responsible for training ink technicians, press assistants and customer ink blenders as needed.

Works with customer to establish key performance indicators to improve press performance through-put.

Responsible for maintaining finished ink inventory goals related to consignment or other predetermined systems.

Applies measurement tools, such as control charts, to measure on-going performance.  Maintains color files.  Sets up job standards for presses.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 10 years press-related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience and knowledge of pre-press operations required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Excellent teamwork, communications skills, and demonstrated initiative in problem solving/troubleshooting required.

Knowledge of basic computer operating and a good working knowledge of ink dispensing systems.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routing reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Color matching ability and knowledge of inks and films required.

Special Equipment/Working Condition Requirements

On call 24 hours a day based on customer’s schedule.

May operate lab equipment as required which includes but is not limited to: Proofer, X-Rite Color Computer, pH meter, Gloss Meter, Disperser, Triple Beam Scales, C.O.F., Sutherland rub tester, heat sealer, ink mixers, scales, and band tester.
