Job Summary

 

Develops and tests new ink systems; resolves problems with existing systems; uses problem solving methodology, modifies existing systems to efficiently meet customer needs; follows routine, detailed instructions requiring minimal evaluation, originality or ingenuity; knows and applies fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of study.  Meets customer needs to the best of the incumbents ability, in line with SIEGWERK’s philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority. Adheres to all departmental/company policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintains a neat, clean and safe work area; (2) maintains regular and consistent attendance; and (3) maintains positive working relationships.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Formulates new ink systems for new and/or existing customer locations.

 

Ensures that customer requirements or specifications are met.

 

Determine problem causes, tests, analyzes and implements product improvements

 

Modifies existing ink systems to meet new customer requirements,

 

Conducts resin/pigment evaluations, as needed to meet customers' specifications, provide cost savings, etc.

 

Provides clear documentation, written reports, etc., enters data into computer.

 

Applies established procedures under immediate supervision to perform assigned tasks.

 

Other duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

 

Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Chemistry with some related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

 

To perform this job successfully, the incumbent must possess the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

 

Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written required. Knowledge of related raw materials, ink systems, production processes, available resources and equipment, preferred.

 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

 

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Basic computer ability desired: Microsoft Word/Excel and E-mail. All lab equipment, including pH meter, heat sealer, bond tester, oven, balance, glossmeter, Geiger proofer, computer, calculator, mixer, shaker, K-Coater, slide angle, C.O.F. tester, FTIR, & Corona treater.  May be exposed to fumes, pigment dust, solvents, and resins.

 

Salary Range for this position  - $58k-$62k
