The Maintenance Mechanic maintains and/or repairs all manufacturing and supporting equipment and building and property systems, including, air conditioning, plumbing, electricity, etc.; maintains equipment as per preventive maintenance scheduling.
There are 2 shifts available:
Saturday-Tuesday, 5:00 pm-3:00 am
Monday-Friday, 2:00 pm-10:00 pm
Job Responsibilities
- Installs new or relocated machinery, in terms of providing electrical supply to the equipment.
- Completes work orders: replaces lamps or ballast, repairs or replaces hoses & pumps; responds to temperature-related complaints or concerns; completes computer-related tasks, e.g., installing cabling, PC's; and a myriad of tasks related to maintenance/repair of all mfg. equip. & building systems.
- Determines proper course of action, related to repair vs. replacement vs. modification of equipment, tools, etc., and makes recommendations regarding such to supervisor.
- Conducts preventative maintenance on a bi-weekly and annual basis or per Preventive Maintenance program: lubrication of shot mills, changing filters;
- HVAC-related duties, e.g., checking belts, lubrication of bearings, Changing filters, etc.
- Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
- Checks and listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
- Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
- Cleans, lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
- Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs gauges, values, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
- Repairs and maintains physical structure of facility (internal and external).
- Sets up and operates machine tools to repair, fabricate machine parts, tools, etc.
- May operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
- Pipe fitting, pump rebuild and fabrication..
- On-call when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred, plus three to six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

- Good interpersonal skill is required. Has the ability to get along with others. Understands that the supervisor and coworkers are his customers.
- Pipefitting, heating and general mechanical skills preferably in a manufacturing environment, required.
- Electrical process equipment troubleshooting and mechanical skills preferred.
- Ability to climb ladder is needed.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's
- Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Basic computer skills desired – Microsoft Word/Excel and E-mail desired.
