Siegwerk in Des Moines is looking to add Production Technicians to our manufacturing team! Employees in these positions will be cross-trained in all areas of the manufacturing facility and will rotate as needed to support operations.
Various shifts available Monday-Friday:
- 6:00 am - 2:00 pm
- 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm
- 10:00 pm - 6:00 am
Starting rate is $20/hour plus applicable shift differentials.
Our Production Technicians are crucial to the operation of our business as they are responsible for the creation of our inks. As a Production Technician you will be responsible for combining proper quantities of materials needed to produce inks and bases; filtering finished products into proper containers; operating production equipment; and ensuring accurate labeling and movement of product to the shipping area.
Job Responsibilities
• Set up and operate equipment (pre-batch, milling, and dispensing) per procedures. Monitor equipment for proper operation, function and safety.
• Accurately weigh each item/component and combine as directed on the batch ticket; selects proper equipment for processing.
• Takes samples of ink to QC Lab. Adjusts batches of ink as needed for quality control.
• Properly filter and/or strain large/small batches of ink.
• Accurately weigh all containers and sets scale accordingly. Ensures proper containers are used and prepared for shipping.
• Pump large/small batches of ink into proper containers. Take measures to ensure accuracy.
• Choose appropriate labels and ensure correct labeling.
• Perform shipping and receiving duties as needed.
• Assist with maintenance when needed.
• Thoroughly clean all containers, still & work area including floors, walls and equipment.
• Complete product sheets, checking for accuracy.
• Communicate status of work to other shifts, as needed.
• Prioritize workflow on their assigned machine or equipment.
• As needed, serves as back up for other production technicians or other production staff.
• Perform minor maintenance functions on equipment following the preventative maintenance schedule.
• Participate in department meetings regarding a variety of topics, i.e., safety, process improvement, plant operations.
• Strictly adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies.
• Participate in completion of annual Physical Inventory.
• Stop ink shipments if quality is in question and reports to manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
• Ability to operate forklift and other powered industrial equipment as required.
• Ability to use computers comfortably in an automated facility.
• Ability to multi-task and abide by a set schedule.
• Ability to read and interpret documents in English. This includes safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved wreitten or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to lift up to 55 lbs on a repetitive basis.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 6 months production experience is preferred.
